Build a rocket from cardboard boxes.
I used thermawrap insulation and party banners to decorate it, but you can also use aluminium foil. Print some signs like NASA logo, flags and a view from space for a pretend window. Put a chair with seat belt (I used the swing chair) or improvise one. For the lighting effect I added a battery operated disco ball. Stick some old remote controls or hand calculators on the walls and make a fake handle for the door.
For a full sensory experience we played rocket launch sounds and shaked the rocket when launching. Add any other helpful props like helmets, glasses, robots, planets.
The kids had a blast and so did I. Ready, steady, blast off!
