Slate painting
Same thing as painting pebbles: acrylic markers and sealent spray. I used some broken slates to make houses and an old tile to make a multi-storey block. You can put them in your garden or in a fairy corner.

Insects, snails and frogs. Used glitter because they were meant to be used in a fairy garden for my little ones. I used acrylic pains as well as acrylic markers and spray for waterproof finish.

Chalk ideas
Plenty of ideas out there. Animals, shapes, flowers. The one my little ones enjoyed the most are “be a butterfly” and colour our fence. There’s scope for many hours of work on the fence one.

Placard making – stay home ideas 9
We’ve taken part in the Scottish CND challenge #windowsforpeace to make a placard and display it in the window. Stamping, cutting and sticking, writing and coloring on a cardboard kept them occupied for hours.

Sand play (warning – it gets messy) and painting rainbows for kids to spot on their walks. This depends where you live, some countries put teddies in the window, here in Scotland we have rainbows.

Dying pasta for play
You need pasta, an empty bottle, food dye or liquid water colours and some rubbing alcohol. Add pasta to the bottle, mix a few drops of dye and some alcohol and sake it well. Add more colour if needed. Dry on a paper towel (this can take 24h or more). I have used this pasta…
